Dans cet atelier nous explorerons, de manière très pratique et appliquée, comment l'intelligence artificielle, et l’IA générative en particulier, peut être utilisée comme outil pour la recherche qualitative en sciences humaines et sociales. Alors que ce type de technologie est souvent présentée comme un instrument pour pour exécuter des tâche computationnelles complexes sur des grandes quantité de données, la prolifération de chatbots, outils en ligne, et interfaces ‘point-and-click’ ouvre aussi de possibilités de recherche pour les chercheurs et chercheuses qui travaillent avec des méthodes et des données qualitative: ethnographie, entretiens, analyse documentaire, herméneutique etc. Dans cet atelier, nous explorerons ces possibilités de recherche à partir des techniques les plus simples ex. transcription d’entretiens, indexation d’archive (dans la matinée) jusqu'à des techniques plus sophistiquées d’ethnographie synthétique et de focus group basés sur l’IA (dans l’après-midi).

In this workshop we will explore, in a very practical and applied way, how artificial intelligence, and generative AI in particular, can be used as a tool for qualitative research in the humanities and social sciences. While this type of technology is often presented as an instrument to perform complex computational tasks on large amounts of data, the proliferation of chatbots, online tools, and point-and-click interfaces also opens up possibilities for researchers working with qualitative methods and small datasets: ethnographic observation, interviews, documentary analysis, hermeneutics etc. In this workshop, we will explore these research possibilities from the simplest techniques e.g. interview transcription, archive indexing (in the morning) to more sophisticated techniques of synthetic ethnography and AI-based focus groups (in the afternoon).
